A Trip to Camp:
Monday was my first official day at Camp Bow Wow. While I had visited last week, I wasn’t able to go in the play yards because of my surgery.
When I arrived at camp, most of the pups are in their cabin for lunch and/or a nap. Max however was in the play yard by himself so went in and met Max for the first time. Max is a poodle mix, a little bit smaller than me, but really nice. We romped a bit and played until the other pups came into the play yard too. At first it was easy to remember their names; there was Bensen & Mulligan, Gidget, Ms. Dazie, Nyla, Aussie & Chico and then out of the blue came Barry. He came into the play yard and everyone rushed over to meet him and I forgot where I was with the names. No worries, they were all nice and I know I’ll meet everyone again. We all played and took turns playing with each other.
After a while, some of the campers who were staying overnight went back to their cabins for dinner. My Mom packed my dinner too so I got to go in a cabin too; I was hungry. After dinner I realized that I was tired but I didn’t want to fall asleep because I still wanted to play. I noticed that some of the campers were going home. I began to worry whether I was going home too. Soon, however, I went back into the play yard and played with Gidget. She’s a blast and her play style is just like mine. Next thing I know it was time for the overnighters to go to bed. As they were being led into their cabins, I realized just how tired I was. Soon me and Gram were on our way home too.
When we got home, my Mom was waiting for me in the driveway. I think she missed me. Mom had a big test that she needed to study for today, that’s why she let me go to camp without her. While I missed my Mom, I had a good time.
Then I saw Keke and she too was glad I was back home. We played for a bit, took a short walk and went to bed.
Wednesday:
Today, Mom and I slept in. We were both really tired. She doesn’t know it, but I slept on her pillow last night. My mom smells nice and I try to get as close to her as I can when she’s not looking.
In the morning, my Mom had to go to school to take her test. I hope she gets a good grade. She is going to school to be a nurse. I played with Keke most of the morning. Later my Mom and Dad are taking me to the “park”.
I didn’t know what a park was, but now I do. Wow there is so much to see and do and plenty of grass to play in and so many people and other pups like me. Mom and Dad took me down by the water; I watched the water for a bit and then we went for a walk. The park was nice and I hope we can go back some day.
After the park we went to the store and my Mom bought me a “Harness”. It matches my collar and leash. My Mom put it on me; I don’t know if I like it. It feels weird. Later we went to my Dad’s Mother and Father’s house. They have a fenced in back yard. I could really have some fun over here. Dad’s mother and father were really nice.
We went back home for dinner. I fell asleep early; I guess because I was still tired from my day at Camp. Mom said we were going back to camp on Thursday. I can’t wait!

Weekend Recap
Friday:
I woke up in my new home in my new bed. What a wonderful feeling…
Today, I went to Camp with my Mom. She is a Camp Counselor/Scout at Camp Bow Wow. I have to say that when we walked in the door, I was very nervous. All those sniffs came to me all at once. I thought that I was going back to the shelter so I tugged on my leash, but my Mom told me that it was OK and she led me through the doors. I walked in to a lot of yapping dogs. Most of them seemed very nice. Some said hello while others questioned who I was. I told them that I was here with me New Mom. While at camp, I mostly followed my Mom around while she was working. I spent some time in a “Cabin”. There, I slept on a fleece blanket which reminded me of home. My Mom said that I couldn’t go into the play yards because of my stitches. So I relaxed on my comfy cot with my fleece blanket and my new ball.
Before I knew it, we were on our way back home. At home, I played with KeKe for the rest of the night. I was glad when my Mom said it was bedtime. I was pooped.

Saturday:

My Mom and Dad went to a party. I stayed home with Gram, Papa, Jake & Keke. I thought that I was going to play all day with Keke, but my Gram had other plans. She said that she and I were going to the “Pet Palooza” at the South Euclid Dog Park. I didn’t know what that meant except for a ride in the car. I like car rides.
When we got to the Pet Palooza I couldn’t believe how many other dogs that were there. I met so many people. I played with a German Shepherd, a mini Dachshund a Golden Retriever and so many others. Some people asked if I was up for adoption. I was so glad when my Gram said “no, my daughter adopted him Thursday” and then she would introduce me as Bodie. I like my new name.
At the Pet Palooza there were some dog competitions. One was for the best costume. Some dude in a Hawaiian skirt came in 2nd or 3rd place. You’d never catch me wearing one of those. Then there was a contest for the best trick. Believe it or not some other dude won for eating treats. Anyone could do that; I should have entered.
After the event, we went home where I took a long walk and went to bed. I was very tired.

Sunday:
I woke up in my Mom’s bed! Wow is her bed nice and comfy. I could get use to sleeping here… we spent a quite day at home. That sounds so perfect doesn’t it? My Dad and Uncle Tom were there too. I think I like Sunday’s. My Mom told me that Sunday’s is “Family Day” at our house and that is OK with me.

I am so lucky, you have no idea…

Yesterday, when I woke up I wasn’t in my usual cage. (I’ve been caged since 06/26/09. When they brought me in, my leg was hurting. The vet tech person fixed me up and it doesn’t hurt anymore.) I was a little sleepy and kind of sore. Anyway, when I woke up from one of my many naps that day, one of the guys at the shelter came and got me. I was thinking “What now, isn’t being neutered bad enough!” I pulled and pulled on my leash to try to get away, but he was too strong.
As he was pulling me, I looked up and standing there right in front of me was one of the nice ladies and man from a couple of days ago. She bent down and scratched my ears and hugged me. Boy does she smell nice; a guy could get use to these hugs. The man looked at me and just smiled. So I sat down in front of him and wiggled my tail for him until he scratched my ear. He seems real nice; I think he likes me too.
While we were standing there, I heard words like adoption, new home and new Mom & Dad. I’m not sure what that all means, but if it means that I can be with this lady and man, I’m all for it. Wait a minute; these two people are my NEW Mom and Dad! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!
As start towards the door I yelled, “Please say you’re taking me outside”. They did, they took me outside! I was so happy we were going outside I started jumping and doing the traditional doggie dance one does when they are excited. Instead of going to the grass, they headed for a car. As they opened their car door and let me jump in, I yelled “Who cares about the grass, Yippee, I get to go for a car ride!”

Away we went. I wasn’t too sure what I was supposed to do in the car so I looked around and was enjoying the sights when all of a sudden it hit me; I’ve got to pee. “Oh, no what do I do now”. “Hold it, hold it”, I kept telling myself. Just when I thought I couldn’t hold it any longer, the car stopped, “Let me out” I shouted, “I’ve got to pee now!” And I did and thankfully, in the grass.

I was led into a new house, somewhere I’ve never been before. Could this be the new home they were talking about, not too bad if it is, I thought? Wait a minute, where is all that rude talking coming from. I’m not too sure about this. Remember I told you about a new brother and sister? Well there they were standing right in front of me and talking to me rather rudely. One of them is called “Keke” and the other is called “Jake”. I also saw the other man from the other day. I heard them call him Grandpa. Grandpa bent down and patted my head and scratched my ear. Everyone loves to scratch me ears and thats OK with me because I love it! Jake just stands there and yaps at me. Keke came over and we sniffed; she smells good. I let her know that I wanted to play with her and that’s what we did for most of the day. We played.

Later, my NEW MOM took me outside again in the grass. I showed her that I could pee on trees, plants, grass. “I can pee on anything” I say. I don’t think she liked it when I peed in the house though. I’m going to have to figure out how to show my Mom when I have to pee.

While we were outside, I met my new neighbors; Scott, Jennifer, Payton and Hudson. They seemed excited to see me, especially the girl Payton. She lay in the grass with me and we played. I like her. I like Hudson too. I saw him playing with his toys and a ball; I love toys and balls too! I think it’s going to be fun following them around.

I met my other neighbors too; Mike, Barb, Rocko and Bambi. Rocko and Bambi are just like me. We talked and sniffed each other. They seem nice too. I have so many new friends.

After a while we went back into the house. A new man came in the door, someone I’ve never met before. Jake and Keke are so excited to see him. He must be someone special. Ah, I see why. He rubs them all over and scratches their ears, neck, back… all over. “Me Too” I yell. My Mom said he was my Uncle Tom and he starts scratching me all over, just like Jake and Keke. I lie down and take a snooze.

I wake up to hear that me new Dad is leaving. “No, don’t go. I just got here”, he hugs me and says he’ll be back. Then my uncle get’s up and says that he’s leaving too. “Is everyone leaving” I think. After they leave, my Mom feeds me and takes me back outside. I meet some more neighbors. A while later, the other nice lady from a couple of days ago comes in the door. They say that she is me new Grandma. She says hi to me, they eat dinner and then my Grandma and Mom take me, Jake and KeKe for a walk. When we get home everyone goes to bed. My Mom puts me on a brand new bed. It’s so soft and there isn’t a cage. I love my new bed. I love my new Home. I love my new family.

I am the luckiest dog ever!

Oh by the way, my name isn’t Sprocket anymore. MY NEW NAME IS BOHDI!
Bohdi, that's me!

Well, the flea bath was nice. They scrubbed me squeaky clean, trimmed my nails and cleaned my ears. I have to say, I smell and look pretty good. I wonder what my new Mom and Dad will say...

As for the surgery, I don't know what they did but man am I sore.

They told me that my new Mom and Dad were picking me up today to take me to my new home. I hope it's one of those nice ladies that came to visit me the other day!

Yesterday these two nice ladies came into the shelter (Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter) and gave us all a once over. One of the ladies stopped by my cage and was talking to me in a calm and soothing voice. I fell in love with her instantly.
Then all at once she got up and was walking away. A few minutes later, I saw her walking out of the door. I yelled to her; "Hey, what about me".

The next thing I know, I was being led into what they call the interview room and there were those two nice ladies. I didn't know what to do or how to react. I wanted them both to love me. The person who led me into the interview room gave be one of those dried up dog cookies and told me to sit. When she said sit, I sat and took the cookie because something told me that's what these two ladies would want me to do. Then the other lady left. I didn't know if I was suppose to sit there or play like I normally do. So I got up and started walking around, sniffing the floor and doing what dogs do. One lady squeaked a toy and threw it. I went to the toy and picked it up. Wasn't too sure what I was suppose to do with it; after all I'm only 9 months old.

One of the nice ladies started scratching me, ahhhh that was so nice. It's been a long time since I've been scratched. After a little bit, I rolled over and she gave be a belly rub; I LOVE belly rubs. I thought I died and went to heaven.

After a while, the two of them started talking about taking me home. When the one turned to me and asked me if I was ready to go home, I jumped up and gave her the bestest doggie lick ever. "Please, Please take me home" I was screaming.

Maybe I screamed too loud because the other lady came into the room and took me away. I went back to my cage and cried. I must have cried myself to sleep.

A few hours later, my door was opened and I was led outside where I saw those two nice ladies again. They brought two men and another boy & girl with them and introduced them as my brother and sister. I don't know what all this means, but you can be sure I was on my best behavior. We sniffed and started at each other. I hope they like me! The next thing I knew, I was back inside. "Hey, what about this brother and sister. Aren't they coming inside too."

This is all too confusing. I heard them talking about giving me a flea bath, shots and something about being neutered. "Do it", I screamed. Anything just let me go home with these people and my new brother and sister, these two nice ladies and two men. But they took me back to my cage for the night.

This morning, they woke me up early and told me that I was going to the vet and after my surgery I would be going to my new home. So that's it. I'm off to surgery...AND THEN MY NEW HOME! Wish me luck.
