I am so lucky, you have no idea…

Yesterday, when I woke up I wasn’t in my usual cage. (I’ve been caged since 06/26/09. When they brought me in, my leg was hurting. The vet tech person fixed me up and it doesn’t hurt anymore.) I was a little sleepy and kind of sore. Anyway, when I woke up from one of my many naps that day, one of the guys at the shelter came and got me. I was thinking “What now, isn’t being neutered bad enough!” I pulled and pulled on my leash to try to get away, but he was too strong.
As he was pulling me, I looked up and standing there right in front of me was one of the nice ladies and man from a couple of days ago. She bent down and scratched my ears and hugged me. Boy does she smell nice; a guy could get use to these hugs. The man looked at me and just smiled. So I sat down in front of him and wiggled my tail for him until he scratched my ear. He seems real nice; I think he likes me too.
While we were standing there, I heard words like adoption, new home and new Mom & Dad. I’m not sure what that all means, but if it means that I can be with this lady and man, I’m all for it. Wait a minute; these two people are my NEW Mom and Dad! Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!
As start towards the door I yelled, “Please say you’re taking me outside”. They did, they took me outside! I was so happy we were going outside I started jumping and doing the traditional doggie dance one does when they are excited. Instead of going to the grass, they headed for a car. As they opened their car door and let me jump in, I yelled “Who cares about the grass, Yippee, I get to go for a car ride!”

Away we went. I wasn’t too sure what I was supposed to do in the car so I looked around and was enjoying the sights when all of a sudden it hit me; I’ve got to pee. “Oh, no what do I do now”. “Hold it, hold it”, I kept telling myself. Just when I thought I couldn’t hold it any longer, the car stopped, “Let me out” I shouted, “I’ve got to pee now!” And I did and thankfully, in the grass.

I was led into a new house, somewhere I’ve never been before. Could this be the new home they were talking about, not too bad if it is, I thought? Wait a minute, where is all that rude talking coming from. I’m not too sure about this. Remember I told you about a new brother and sister? Well there they were standing right in front of me and talking to me rather rudely. One of them is called “Keke” and the other is called “Jake”. I also saw the other man from the other day. I heard them call him Grandpa. Grandpa bent down and patted my head and scratched my ear. Everyone loves to scratch me ears and thats OK with me because I love it! Jake just stands there and yaps at me. Keke came over and we sniffed; she smells good. I let her know that I wanted to play with her and that’s what we did for most of the day. We played.

Later, my NEW MOM took me outside again in the grass. I showed her that I could pee on trees, plants, grass. “I can pee on anything” I say. I don’t think she liked it when I peed in the house though. I’m going to have to figure out how to show my Mom when I have to pee.

While we were outside, I met my new neighbors; Scott, Jennifer, Payton and Hudson. They seemed excited to see me, especially the girl Payton. She lay in the grass with me and we played. I like her. I like Hudson too. I saw him playing with his toys and a ball; I love toys and balls too! I think it’s going to be fun following them around.

I met my other neighbors too; Mike, Barb, Rocko and Bambi. Rocko and Bambi are just like me. We talked and sniffed each other. They seem nice too. I have so many new friends.

After a while we went back into the house. A new man came in the door, someone I’ve never met before. Jake and Keke are so excited to see him. He must be someone special. Ah, I see why. He rubs them all over and scratches their ears, neck, back… all over. “Me Too” I yell. My Mom said he was my Uncle Tom and he starts scratching me all over, just like Jake and Keke. I lie down and take a snooze.

I wake up to hear that me new Dad is leaving. “No, don’t go. I just got here”, he hugs me and says he’ll be back. Then my uncle get’s up and says that he’s leaving too. “Is everyone leaving” I think. After they leave, my Mom feeds me and takes me back outside. I meet some more neighbors. A while later, the other nice lady from a couple of days ago comes in the door. They say that she is me new Grandma. She says hi to me, they eat dinner and then my Grandma and Mom take me, Jake and KeKe for a walk. When we get home everyone goes to bed. My Mom puts me on a brand new bed. It’s so soft and there isn’t a cage. I love my new bed. I love my new Home. I love my new family.

I am the luckiest dog ever!

Oh by the way, my name isn’t Sprocket anymore. MY NEW NAME IS BOHDI!
Bohdi, that's me!
